Now to start with I am a "Old Guy" !!! And I am proud to have lived long enough to be an old dude.
And I can't tell you how many "Bully Dog" guys I have ran into running 500-600hp on stock motors and not a one have a dyno sheet to prove it. They are legends in their own minds. And what I find upsetting is if you are going to be a poser at least know what you are talking about.
To say they are stock injectors, I don't what kind of turbo I have or I don't need head studs (Mr 6.0) do I really look that stupid. Or should I say "Dude you are dumber than you look." But being the humble old man that I am I don't say a thing and just walk away. I really do feel bad for the stupid people in this world. They just don't know any better.
And this is coming from a guy (ME) who isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Don't forget the zoodad mod- that's good for another 50, add a few stickers, and you'll have an easy 800hp!

One of my club members called me the other day. Said he ran into a guy that "knew" my truck and how his truck (02 7.3) is making 500+ hp and how he raced me and beat me. I told my friend that, that is impossible since i havnt actually raced anyone and i doubt that his truck (dosnt have a straight peice of metal on it) is making that kind of power. People are dumb. But now i know to keep an eye out for him just in case he decides to race me again without me knowing.

Nuthin' sez "Up yers!" quat lack a lode-o-cole in yer winduh.

A bit OT - I remember (many moons ago) hearing a guy in a bus station brag about how he worked for Hughes Airwest as a DC10 mechanic. Anybody who knew anything about airplanes knew "Howie" had a fleet of DC9s and no wide-body jets.

All I could do was walk away - the same as the reactions I've seen here. Posers - not even clever enough to read up on what they choose to brag about. Throw some numbers out there and the only people that will listen are the ones that have no clue what the numbers mean and don't care anyway. Total exercise in futility.

When I talk hp/tq numbers, I just whip out my dyno sheet and time slips from the storage pocket behind the passenger seat in my truck. I have fuel reciepts to document my fuel economy, too.
Now show me what ya got! I thought so!

I spent many, many hours and miles aboard that fleet.

Do you also remember PSA's L-1011s? At least they actually existed!

Man, it's unreal... I've done everything to my truck the "right" way and I still wouldn't put my truck up against a Mustang. And now my Dad's truck? Never... no way. He'd loose me. Now if I had a Banks kit, I might take on a cop someday!

I don't know, though... I've got mixed feelings on "misinformation". We all have said something that we'd heard and thought might be the case, but wound up being wrong. We're all only human and can only get it right but so often. I guess what's sets it apart is the smart@$$ mentality. I've said many a thing that was wrong, but I've always tried to leave room for an "I could be wrong". What I hate is when a person who really doesn't know but isn't being smart get's smoked by someone who is right, but also is a smart@$$. Makes those of us who are right look just as bad. And also in regards to the "older" guys, they've got some room. I know that my grandparents have gotten to where they can't keep up with and stay on top of this "stuff" themselves when it comes to certain things. So, they wind up being at the mercy of the people around them. I don't know if it's a thing with where I am or what, but nobody around here gives a dang about older folks and unless somebody steps in and actually cares, they're ripped off time and time again. Doctors are the biggest problem in the family at the moment... and I mean no disrespect. I know for a fact that the older guys have got more in their heads than any of us younger fellows can ever hope to soak in! It makes me mad when it's disregarded and the older fellows are thrown to the curb. Older guys are what have gotten me to where I am. I love watching them light up when I ask them about something from their realm and then tell me all about it.

Kinda OT, I know... just my $.02.

Good post Jon. I'm an older guy to. I've never claimed to know everthing but I do know about a few things. Maybe that guy was just misinformed. But in realilty there are some posers out there that are just plain liars. God Bless,

Chet

Us older guys have patience. We'll wait till they "see it" or "get shown" and then smile and walk away satisfied. It's one of the cool things about getting older. One of the things you learn is that nobody knows everything and the ones that think they do usually learn everything the hard way. I'm with you Jonathan, I will always leave room for a "I might be wrong". Good post buddy.

the best one i have is i was showing a buddy of mine who has a 7.3 also some of the things i have done when i guy walks up and ask if we want to race trucks. at first i thought he was playing stupid, asked me what my gauges were for, was dp tuner any good cause he had never heard of them. he said he had stacked edge programmers and has beat every dodge, chevy, ford out there. shut my hood and walked away. after him running his mouth all day my friend told me to race him so he would shut up. i beat him easy and bad, he didnt even spool up his turbo. he wanted to race again because he said he only had one tuner turned on, when i asked him if he wanted me to leave it in economy mood or use my race tune this time, he finally walked away.
