ford makes a bench seat that has a center seat that folds down and has a storage compartment in the back. The compartment is not very deep though so I dont know if thats what your looking for. I saw one of these bench seats at the local rebuild yard. I would have bought it for my bronco but had already purchased my bucket seats.
How big's the dog? If not too big then I would say just build a new seat/top for the console and replace the existing top. Or if that's not strong enough, reinforce the seat with some supports and you should be ok.
I have always wanted to throw a bench seat in my bronco, but wasnt sure if it would even work. The supercab versions of the 92-96 trucks didnt have third doors, so did their benches slide forward? That would be great if it were a direct swap for a bench from that era truck. Anybody have an idea if this swap is actually feasible?

i beleive that there are brackets that bolt to the benchseats and then the same brackets are bolted to floor. i think that a bench from any truck would work as long as the bench seat bottom was flat something like the rear seat on the bronco. my brothers 98 f150 has the bench seat it splits on the passenger side console is on the drivers side. lift the console and you have room for your sweetheart or in your case LoneWolf0403 your dog.
Some bolt right in. I think the one i was talking about with the fold down middle seat bolts right on. I pretty sure there was a guy on this sight that has done that conversion try the search feature.
All '80-96 Broncos & F-series have all the holes in the floor to mount either a bench or captain's chairs, so just get a bench from a truck with a body similar to yours and it'll certainly fit. You can probably even get a bench from a different make & attach the bench brackets from a truck like yours.
Thanks for the heads up Steve. Is the sliding mechanism the same from the F series to the bronco? I dont want to throw a bench in and find that only small children and contortionists can get squeeze past the seat to the rear of my bronco. I havent taken the time to look under the seat and check it out.
