I have 36 k on truck 4x4, and original Michilin tires, getting reardy for tires, I been noticing some run away front tire hop, and the other day I crossed a RR track and the front end went in to a voilent shake, what is this from, I have the 4x4 off rd package which has the better shocks I thought, looking for help.
I really don't know if there is any factual reason for it buy my wobble did not appear until my original michelins were just about worn out. The logic does not make sense to me but since you state the same thing, maybe worn tires have something to do with it? My wobble events went away with new tires. I did also get a new OEM stabilizer a couple weeks after the new tires.
How many miles were on your truck mine has 37k, I went to dealer and they said it may take a couple hours to diagnose and ford would probably not pick up as truck is out of warranty....hum.....
rather than pay for 90.00/hr to tell me the shocks are shot, I looked under the truck last night and found the right front shock is leaking, nice... and the stabilizer is being replaced with a another motorjunk stabilizer, I ordered nitto terra grapler tires, bilstein 5100 shocks and stabilizer shock, we'll install everthing and report back about the new ride....
installed bilstein 5100 shocks and stabilizer, and truck rides like a dream..... 1000 times better , the factory rancho shocks were junk, had no pressure or resistance left in them...

I have researched the Bilstein shocks and believe they are the way to go. Sounds like you are very pleased with yours. If you would, where did you buy your shocks and what are the model numbers for the front and rear shocks? I guess the steering stabilizer part number would be great also.
I have the 20" wheels on my F250 with about 35,000 miles on it. I've experienced the death wobble for some time now. My Michelins might have 3,000 miles left in them after pulling the 5'er a good 6,000 miles.
I will get you the numbers, I have to sift thru my invoices, as they sent the wrong front ones, and the steering stabilizer was wrong, but we got it all straightened out, and they are good for stock height to 2" lift.
I changed out my Michelin tires at 28,000 to a new set, My Steering oscilation began at 35,000. So I really don't think worn tires had anything to do with it. Since my 2nd set of tires was still relatively new when the wobble showed up.
If you get it in before 36,000 miles, Ford will fix it under warranty. In my case, they replaced the steering stabilzer and problem went away.
I would imagine those factory stabilzer have a life expectancy of 36,000 miles, and that is why we are seeing so many fail about the same time the tires for most guys are wornout.
