5 speed tranny problem
A 94 F150 4X4 with the big 6 engine and 5 speed tranny. I just bought the truck so I don't have much of a history of it. Engine was replaced with a new crate engine about 20k miles ago along with a new clutch. When I was driving down my fairly steep, long driveway to my house I was in first gear letting the engine compression do the braking. It kept popping out of first gear unless I'd hold it in with the gear shift lever. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I can only guess so possible worn shifter pins. or worn shift fork or worn 1st gear synchros. For the first two you would need to lift the top off of the trans and have a look.
Hopefully some of the manual trans experts will give an opinion.
