head rest removal

I need to remove the head rests from the split bench seat of a 1992 F250. I don`t see any release button or lever on the top of the seatback, and when I pull up on the headrest, it goes up so far, and then stops solidly. Is there a trick, or do I need to remove the rear cover from the back of the seat? Thanks

Was your headrest release an actual button? I bought this seat from a wrecking yard, so I may be off a bit on the year, but it was a early 90s F250 regular cab. My headrest shafts go into a pair of black plastic sleeves in the seat back, and there are no buttons or levers to release the headrests.
