The alternator is brand new, I mean was just put on right before I bought the truck, so I didn't wanna chance it. It makes me nervous spraying water on the engine period! LOL!
My Pop just told me this trick. Warm the engine up just a bit then spray your favorite cleaner, his is "88" I think. Rinse the engine bay down real well but gently and let dry.
Drive around/warm up the engine and then spray it down liberally with WD-40. My engine bay looks sweet now. I use the WD-40 for most everything on the truck, including the leaf spring bushings.
Since I did this routine back in September I occasionally spray the engine bay down with WD-40 whether the engine is hot or cold. Haven't had the need to wash it whatsoever.
Works like a charm for me

I've got a few more things to do before I wash it out, but then I gotta do it cause I can't stand a dirty engine. Looks like the boy that was driving this truck splashed it through some muddy water holes.
I'd have to wash it before I could work on it. I can stand working on a dirty engine
Everything I've been doing has been inside the cab and under the truck so far, but I'm getting ready to take the down pipe, exhaust and intake that I put on the black/red truck off and put it all on this one, so I'm gonna have to get it cleaned up before I start under the hood.
