I just found a pair of 3-screw locks on an F-250 that was ready to be crushed, but I snagged 'em. If I ever swap a D50IFS in, I'll have some good OE locks.
Thanks for all the info guys, on this topic. I'm definitly going to make the switch to manuals(probably Warn). I drive the beaches
alot fishing,on the Northeast coast and the nearest help is usually
miles away, with a hefty charge for towing off the beach.
Steve83, Great pics... That should help. After removing the old hub locks on a '93 Bronco (with the 5 screws in the chrome cap)
the directions say to verify that the spindle nuts are installed and torqued to manufacture's specs. Do they mean the outer locking nut (torqued to 160-205 ft-lbs.), or should I go back to the bearing adjusting nut ( torqued to 50 ft-lbs.) first, then work my way out. These are the terms used by Chilton's manual.
Also, what is the size of the hub socket or the spanner socket (I think that's what you called it).
Sorry, but the directions and the manual don't seem together with their terms or diagrams.
I also want to verify that with the 5 screws in the cap setup you don't need to convert the spindle nut. Every catalog I look at lumps almost all Broncos together as needing a conversion kit (for around $40 extra).
