Upfitter switches

my new truck came with the upfitter switches. The manual doesn't say much about them, but what does one do (or not do) with them?

The upfitter switches can be used to supply 12 volts DC to any additional accessory you want depending on the switch, from 10-30 amps. I used one 10amp switch to power the high idle mod to use my AC for extended periods with out over idling the engine.

If you have remote start and heated seats, you can set a circuit to bypass the relay for the heated seats, and provide power directly to the seats as a pre-heat mode. With the 2008 trucks, the heated seats are on a resetting (non-detented switch) that can't be left in the power "on" setting. If you live in cold weather state, you'll appreciate being able to preheat the seats before sitting on the cold leather.

I also run as on-board air compressor (topping up the tires, or filling the kids inflatable raft when camping), as well as providing an air source for the Air Horns. Tons of fun uses.

Black MI can you eleborate on this "circuit" bypass for the seats? I have a remote start and would be interested hearing how you did this.

Thanks!

Air Horns, utility lights, compressor, winch, high-idle, built in power inverter...

there is a ton of uses for them...if it takes 12V, you can run it off of them...

there are also 4 wires that pass through the firewall...they will come in handy when adding things to the upfitter switches.

Me too! Sounds like a good usage of an upfitter switch.

Count me in to. I bought my 2005 F250 used and had the dealer install the Ford security/remote starts as well as heated seats. Unfortunately, the heated seats aren't powered on during when the remote start is used.

I would but you can't receive or send pm's with less than 25 post count. Your at 10. I would rather not post my email in the thread but will post a secondary if there is no other way. Your info is that valuable to me. Of course you could just make 15 posts quickly and be up to speed with an unlocked account...
