There is no such thing as a P/S column bracket. What year is the truck, what series, what engine?

The steering column itself is different if P/S is present. The steering shaft and the mast jacket (column outer shroud) are different lengths with P/S vs non P/S.

Hey Bill, I might not have the name of the part correct. There is a bracket on the inside of the cab that holds a column to floor seal, and on the engine compartment side there is also a bracket that helps keep the angle of the column correct...here is a pic of that bracket...they are different from manual steering to power steering

The one on the right is correct for power steering

And it will have this stamped into the part

Here it is on the firewall and clamped to the steering column...thanks classic trucks for the pic!

Do I just have the name of the part incorrect? Oh and it goes on my 65...I have converted to ps from a 79, but I used the steering shaft from the 79 in my 65 column, and shortened the 65 column housing itself. I guess I could modify mine from the manual steering setup if I had too.

Thanks

Thanks for the link, I haven't looked through their site before...right now I only see the seal, and not the bracket...I will keep looking on their site

The 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog makes no reference to these parts for 1965 or 1966 F100/250's with P/S.

P/S was not available either factory or dealer installed for any 1965.

The first reference for these parts inre to P/S is 1967. 1967/69 with Bendix P/S use different parts than 1969/72 with Ford/Saginaw P/S.

C5TZ-3668-A .. Clamp = 1965/66 F100/250 2WD / Obsolete

C5TZ-3668-B .. Bracket = 1965/66 F100/250 2WD / 1967/69 F100/250 2WD w/Bendix P/S / Obsolete

C7TZ-3668-B .. Clamp = 1967/69 F100/250 2WD with manual steering or with Bendix P/S / 1967/69 F350 with manual steering / Obsolete

C9TZ-3668-A .. Clamp = 1969/72 F100/250 2WD & F350 with Ford/Saginaw P/S / Obsolete

C9TZ-3668-B .. Bracket = 1969/72 F100/250 2WD & F350 with Ford/Saginaw P/S / Obsolete

F350's were not available with Bendix P/S.

1966/68 & 1969 F100/250 2WD's before serial number D96,001 used Bendix P/S.

1969 F100/250 2WD & F350's from serial number D96,001 used Ford/Saginaw P/S as did 1970/79 F100/250 2WD's & F350's, and...

1976/79 F100/150 4WD / 1977 F250 4WD from serial number Y20,001 (not a High Boy) / 1978/79 F250 4WD / 1979 F350 4WD.

1973/75 F100 4WD, 1975 F150 4WD / 1973/76 F250 4WD, 1977 F250 4WD before serial number Y20,001 (1973/77 High Boys) were only available with Power Assist P/S.

The serial number is the last 6 digits of the VIN

btw: FoMoCo never referred to it as Saginaw P/S or Ford/Saginaw P/S in parts catalogs, just Ford P/S, most likely cuz Saginaw is a division of GM aka Garbage Motors aka (after the bailout), Government Motors.

The terms Saginaw P/S or Ford/Saginaw P/S are internet "inventions." I edited the Saginaw portion into this post after Great Caesars Ghost! "ScooterDude" made reference to it in post 7.

btw, part II; Reference to cs65 in post 7 = This is FTE member camperspecial65, lives in the Sea-Tac WA area, scrounges all the PNW wrecking yards, has tons of used parts.

Folks post here and say I need a so and so for a '65 F100, when they mean, "I have installed later model equipment and want the correct later model parts to put on my '65"

This confuses the heck out of NumberDummy, who tries to decipher what parts you are looking for from his 1965 catalogs listing. It is probably the later C9TZ-3668-B bracket he listed, though, since you are going with a later Saginaw-type box.

Get with cs65 here on FTE, or call Tom at Flashback F100's or Dan at Dan's Ford trucks (eBay seller) and they can get that part. You will also need the inside cab flange and seal to complete the install because the later P/S box sits at a different angle than the manual or Bendix power steering box as you have found out.

There will also be issues with the steering shaft length, etc., but sounds like you may have already figured that out.

Greg, thanks for the leads...and Bill thanks for the part numbers...I have already put a shorter steering shaft from a 79 power steering truck in my shortened (I cut it down 3 inches) manual steering column housing. The inner bracket from the 79 works perfect, it bolts right up. But I do not have the outer bracket from that truck, and that is the last piece I am looking for...
