may not look like much but it works great.you could run some actual good mandrel bent piping of course which would be ideal.i plan on it once i get my turbo on.
the only problem i have with that setup is water or snow i think i might be able to deleate the factory box and build my own and mount it on a fender any segestons
water or snow actually does not cause an issue with the cowl intake. i have drive in some HARD rain for about 40 miles. i got home took the tube from the cowl to air box off and it was bone dry.
i like the box and you could run forced induction and cowl with that box witch would feed twice as much air just want to keep a good clean look on the truck also

same results here.
along with heavy Maine snow accumulation (well not so much this year! that was nice.) snow never gets in the tube.always high and dry.
that sure is a very popular concern gibbsdakota.a popular fear im afraid.
of course we know they used to do this on the 60's muscle cars and we never heard about rain water locking up engines or anything due to cowl induction.funny how some will duct a straight tube right at the grill headed right directly into any rain and yet that doesn't seem to ever concern anyone in the ram air threads.interesting isn't it when ya think about it?
i guess folks are thinking about the entire cowl actually filling up with rain water (impossible even with a garden hose on full, let alone rain.you won't even make it to 1/32 of a inch deep.try it lol) and the cowl duct is up a few inches from the bottom.
it would take a lot of water to fill up the cowl to the point of water getting to the air filter. the bottom of my hole in the cowl is about 2 inches above the bottom of the cowl.
