Review : Sure Wipe windshield wiper springs

okay, so i'm pretty picky about wipers and how the do there job. i have upgraded both my excursion and expedition to 24" rainx blades on the front. for the most part they do well except a place they miss. but this was not my cause to go looking for a fix. my rear wiper on the excursion never worked for crap. i've spent a good bit of money on different blades sizes..ect to try and make it wipe the whole window without missing a beat!

so last week i started looking online. i found a site Sure Wipe : The wiper booster which had the product i was looking for. the price is cheaper then one wiper blade for a set so i said what the heck.

i ordered 3 sets, 2 sets for the front of both my excursion and expedition and another set for the rear wipers of both.

here is a blerb from there site about extra wear on the wiper motor

Legend: In WET conditions the motor effort is the same, with or without SURE WIPE® springs. The washer fluid, rain and snow on the windshield act as a lubricant for the wipers. With SURE WIPE® the wiper motor works in a normal condition.

i ordered the product last week, coming from canada i expected it to take alittle bit. i think it was 5 days all said and done( 4-10 expected).

so heres what you get, a pack of 2

now the directions are not all that great...or i'm stupid. so the first one had my pissed off. once i finally figured it out and how it was supposed to work i was able to slap them all on very quickly.

my biggest problem area, the rear wiper! now works perfectly! wipes the whole window in one swipe leaving nothing behind.

the fronts, went on much easier

the other sets on my expedition

so far tonight i'm VERY pleased with them. we are going through our "break up" season with the snow melting and re-freezing..ect. causing alot of road grime and use of washer fluid. so far i can tell these will make a HUGE difference but i shall keep everyone updated!

What size you use on the rear of your Excursion? I went to 18" but it hits the washer piece on the window. This may be my solution. Also, did it correct the spots missed on the front?

Sounds like the perfect compliment to the larger wiper blades and it actually makes the rear wiper clean the window! Thanks for the review! Reps sent.

That might be worth a try. You said you ordered them direct? I see that they have stores like Wal Mart but I am assuming that they are talking about Canada-Eh?

Interesting, wish I could get them before my trip this weekend. I had to go back to the 20" wipers because any bigger they did not wipe in the middle.

I found the answer to my question. Their website says US and Europe orders are online only.

I replaced all my wiper arms a few weeks ago with oem. Working great with 24's and 18 in rear.

these things are amazing! the nasty dirt road grime we're getting right now which just coats your window almost instantly. with these it cuts right through with just a slight amount of washer fluid. one swipe back and forth when it would have taken 3-4 before.

the rear wiper is where i'm so excited! the whole window wipes clean the first time every time!!!!

i'll get some pics tomorrow....long day today.

yes i ordered directly off there site.

Thanks for posting - reps given! May have to give these a try. As a side note - just replaced my washer nozzles with new OEM ones from Tousley - work MUCH better than my originals. May be a good match to those new wipers!

I used to get wiper lift really bad on my 96 escort back in college, and I found those springs at a walmart in southern Wv. They worked really well, but I haven't ever seen them since. Great product... I figured they had gone under or something. As for the wipers, those rainX wipers, even the latittudes, are total crap. I bought a set for my girlfriends car and was really unimpressed and switched her back to the bosch icons. My former job I was driving 40k miles a year through snow, sleet, etc on a regular basis, so I have had my chance to test every premium wiper out there. None are as good as the bosch icon's. They are expensive but mine usually last about 10 months before they start streaking, which is 5 times as long as the rainX ones. If you take a cloth soaked in alcohol and rub the blades you can get a little bit longer life out of them, but you won't get nearly the performance they deliver in the first 4-6 months of use. My rear wiper on the ex works well, I changed it not too long ago, I think I used an Icon on that as well, but with the washer on it will cut through even the big nasty top to bottom bird poo stains I get when I park under the trees.

AE -- I'd be concerned that the added pressure would accelerate the scratching that dry blades can do to the windshield. As you state, you've got a lot of dirt/grime to deal with this time of year. Keep an eye on the glass so that a dry blade doesn't start to imprint the windshield with a "rainbow arc".

up here you gotta replace a windshield every year anyhow. but over the years weve never had any extra scratches due to spring road conditions. but you try not to run them dry at all.

i had the bosch icons before, i was not as happy with them as i am the rainx's i have now. btw i have had the rainx wipers for about 9 months so far no issues work as new.

I started using the Trico replacement blades when I quit using the OEM blades and replace them about once a year. Based on what I've read on FTE, I think that I'll try the Rain-X ones next.
