Usually when that code shows up it means it's time to walk. The CMP (CPS) is the sensor the computer uses to read the timing of the engine to determine injector firing etc. Any other codes show up like P1316?
For the code, get yourself a new CPS from Ford (don't waste your time with the parts house versions). Then I'd also consider checking your UVCH connections for burnt pins since those can give off the rough running symptoms you're describing.

Also what you mean by its time to walk? Just more than likley your going to be walking? Or time to trade in?

When the CPS goes, or becomes intermittent, the computer can no longer read the timing of the engine so it doesn't know when to fire the injectors. Rather than destroying the engine due to improperly timed injection events, the computer simply shuts the injectors down and won't allow any of them to fire. That means coast to the side and start walking or call for a ride.
A $30 sensor is hardly a reason to trade the truck in. (unless you want to make me a good deal on yours ) The only CPS failure I've had on my current truck happened around 155,000 miles on the odometer. I've over 398,000 now. No reason at all to trade the truck in.
