I'm very envious of your view from the drivers seat! My clear coat is gone on the hood (cheap po paint job) so all I see is peeling flat black.
You truck is beautiful!

Thanks and I know the feeling. I had the same problem on my hood and all of my roof so I was forced to see it every time I drove the truck. Just like a lot of 70's cars and trucks the hood was large and expansive and always in your field of view.
This is what my roof looked like before the paint project.
I recently discovered some of the pitfalls of 16.5 tires last Friday as I was driving home with my 7 year old daughter and as we where at a stop light another motorist was pointing at my right rear tire. Without skipping a beat I immediately pulled into the gas station that was just off to my right as I started to feel the drag of a flat tire and my back end sinking. As I prayed to make it and not damage my rims I just made it to the service bay doors. I was fortunate enough just to pull into one of the few gas stations that still fixes cars.
The (2) punctures is on the sidewalls, the tire is unusable. I then had my truck towed home while I made a plan.
Turns out BFG no longer makes the Mud Terrain tires in 16.5 anymore but they still have the TA's in stock with a little bit of digging so I had them get a set and I'll keep one of the MT's as a spare and sell off the other two.
Man this is one expensive hobby....
Oh and a footnote I entered a Classic Ford Car Show in Antioch, CA on 9/9 just for fun. Stop by if your local. Hopefully it won't be blazing hot!
Glad to hear you got your tire issue solved. That could have been REAL bad if you only noticed once you passed the gas station.
Mind if I ask what the antenna is on the top of your cab? For a CB or for a radio?
EDIT: Can't be the radio. You've got the stock antenna for that in one of your previous pics... must be a CB?
Hey Aaron, Yes it could have been worse if it happened on the freeway that we just got off. The antenna is for my work 2-Way Radio that I modified so it has a vintage (Fully functional) control head (Period correct) and out of view is the modern Motorola MCS2000 radio.
I will clean up that head and make it new again soon.

Very cool looking 2-way Steve. Love vintage stuff.
Just as a side note, it might be time to update those photos you have in your name and signature with new ones :P
That is just about the most beautiful 79 I have ever seen. I am absolutely in love with that red and white two tone. Everything you have done to it is very tasteful and looks great! AWESOME TRUCK STEVE!!!!
Makes me wish my 79 was a Lariat and had the nice trim, so I could do a two tone also. I just have a F-250 Custom, but I still love it
Thanks guys! I appreciate the feedback. It helps keep me motivated when things get to be difficult.

Yeah I'm going to update the signature photo but the Golden Gate photo on my Avatar is not too easy. I live about 30 miles from the city and although I'm there often, I'm not always in my truck so the shot of Candy Cane at the GG Bridge is not only a great locator shot for my Avatar but a hard to get photo as well. Not to mention it was a clear day. Also on that day my wife sent me on a Craigs List run for her and in the back of my truck (Not able to see in the photo) is a small load of furniture. OK so that was the long story.
I would love to get a shot of Candy Cane going down Lombard Street.
