Front suspension help?

hey all, i have a 99 4x4 PSD ex cab long bed, i have recently started having a steering/suspension problem that i need help figuring out! while driving over bumps and dips (in michigan so everywhere) front end bounces a bit but more importantly my steering wheel will move side to side about 1/4 turn. kinda reminds me of having an overloaded azz end with no weight on front end. now i replace my shocks about 2 yrs ago with the rancho 5000 (all 4) and have aprox 5000 miles on them (trucks sits all winter and is only used to pull camper). so are the shocks toasted? to me symptoms lead me to that, but i cant belive they would wear out that fast, so iam looking to the experts here for any other ideas! thanks

Crawl under it and check your tie rod ends- both on the actual tie rod and on the steering link. If you can easily rotate them by hand, it's time to change them.

It sounds strange, but I was having a similar issue (the steering wheel jerk) and the replacement of the steering components took care of it completely.

Also check the ball joints. Jack the truck up from under the axel. Hold your tire at 12 and 6:00. See of there is any play. If there is than this could become a safety concern.
Also, could be your steering stabizer. If it is leaking take it off. Pretty easy to tell if it is bad.
But in all seriousness it is probably that link that goes from your steering box down to your tie rod. Seems like those wear out quick on my truck. But I run 35s also. I got one with a lifetime replacement. I have to replace it once every couple of years but luckally there is no re allignment required. If your tie rod is bent, you will need an allignment. I know this is probably common knowlege but I figured I would tell anyway.
