My f600 came with a 6.80 ratio, I used a dana 80 out of a 99 freightliner step van with 3.31 ratio. I'm running 9r22.5 tires (same height as the 900x20)... 1800rpm is 62mph in direct in both boxes.. still have .86 OD in aux trans.

Same size as the 223 six that I removed. A 6AT is smaller than the 6BT in a dodge. They used them in UPS and bread trucks. 6 cyl and turbo. Look at my thread. I have been running one in a 54 GMC flatbed dually dump truck. Only 120 hp, so ya gotta shift a bit.....

these were also used as on road engines, typically used in Chevy and i think some ford medium duty applications

Some cool trucks!

You have a mid 50's chev service truck? I passed one up north a while back. I cant imagine there are too many people like you out here building these trucks..

Hey Rummer, if yer talking to me, you're right. Not too many people take the time and money to build something slower, and then use the heck out of it......I have had maybe 25 old trucks in the last 40 years, 90% of them fords, but I've never owned a half ton and only a few 3/4 tons, which I would normally build up to one ton specs. OK, I'm hijacking this thread Not sure where I belong sometimes, my one tons are too small for this group and most of the other groups are way slanted to the 1/2 tons, some even replacing the running gear with that from a dang CAR? Oh well, to each his own. Over and out, GB

x2 on those old trucks, love the "emergency brake" on the older one...available at most lumber stores!

Some love for the 3116:
