Tripleframe - thanks for verifying my axle info. I sanded all the paint off the spot where the series and housing numbers were supposed to be, and the only number there is the one I posted earlier.
I also appreciate the additional info regarding the grille, the previous owner was emphatic that nothing had been replaced since he purchased in 1972, so I feel relieved to know it is correct.
