My truck at this time has a older set of Flowmaster mufflers. One of them has a bad rattle. Because of this I decided to get a new set of mufflers. I went and got a new set of flowmasters from the parts store but after opening them found I needed to go with the 2.25 " instead of 2.50" which the store did not have in stock.I was kind of surprised how sloppy the mufflers looked to be new. (weld slag)
After geting back home and reading FTE members previous post about mufflers I decided to go with Magnaflow for a quieter muffler.
The great thing about this site you can read up on every bodies opinions to help make a choice.
Hey Jack,
You'll be happy with the Magnaflow mufflers - nice low rumble.
We just went through the muffler question on our 1950 F1. Our's had a set of new Flowmaster 40's on there - Mind nummingly loud! My wife was going to kill me if my neighbors didn't do it first.
Magnaflow yes - Flowmaster no. Our's was a very ragged raspy lumpy sound - I could hear my son coming in the truck from a block off.
There are different types of flowmasters in the 40 series - not all of them are crazy loud. The ones I went for (delta I think) give a lovely low rumble without too much excess noise.
