The way Jody sets it up, it won't let you drive with it. Well you can idle but that's it. He makes it to where the throttle is non responsive. At least that's how he did mine. And yes it does smell a lil funky at times but really quitens my truck up! Heck occasionally when I switch to it the rpms drop and it can't quiet catck itself and dies.
I really like the PHP Whisper tune, it idles very quiet, but when you press the accelerator it drives like a stock tune. I can also start the engine with it in whisper as easily as any other tune.
On my PHP chip I have:
Stock
Whisper
80E
80T
65T
40T
Most custom tunes are similar and I find those work well on my 450. I like the order; as the egt gets high let off the gas and click the **** over a position and get back on it.
I use 80t all the time, I weigh 10k empty. There is a long hill from a standing start merging into 60mph traffic on my drive home work, taking it in 80t as opposed to 80e lowers the egt's 100* or so and is much smoother on the 2-3-O/D shifts. I am going to drive my next tank on 80t and compare the mileage to 80e and see how they compare. I didn't know if i would use the 80t much but I like it a lot. I assume Jody's tunes perform is a similar fashion.
Ohh. So it's kinda like a code you put in using the + and - buttons to basically unlock the truck. Gotcha. I hear most people set it to position 0 so that's what I'll go with.

You can actually add the whisper to any tune now. So that at idle it is quite and then just off uses the tuning.

Yeah, Alan had a good point on not putting too much info out there. DP will include instructions.
I have been driving quite a bit over the last few days, and not experiencing the downshift issues either. I also have the Sonnax springs in my tranny, not sure if that plays a part or not. In Houston, with a lot of traffic, I spend a lot of time 35-50 range. Glad I don't have downshift issues, and really like the 80e setting.
Now, this is just my observation, but since running 80e, and 150 or so miles combined stop/go and freeway, just like before, my mpg has crept up from 13.8-14.1, to 15.1 this morning. Nothing scientific, off of the "lie-0-meter, but it never was in that range before. Just saying I believe it helps.
