Not a great pic - but jack up the wheel and check to see if the hub is engaging, etc.

My X had a auto hub on the right side and a manual on the left. Both worked fine. Coming to ebay soon.

I disconnected the vacuum at the tank. Also, a pic of the solenoid on the fender. Defroster works great now - no leaks. I didn't fool with the wheel lines - they looked good. I will go back and probably plug them and remove the lines.

Enjoy,
D.

Great pics! One tip a friend showed me was to put a small bend in the very end of the retainer ring to make it easier to remove if ever needed. Reps sent.

If anybody has any apprehension about doing this install - don't. It was really straight forward.

Any ideas on those clips?

I might e-mail Warn and ask them about them.

Did they change the center caps from 99 to 2000?

I found this video and his hubs are flush after the mod.

My 2000 - no way.

Installing Warn Hubs '99 F250 - YouTube

Anybody else with stock 16" wheels and center caps have the same issue?

Those look like steel wheels, mine are aluminum.

Man that looks hairy for my skills and patience.

I guess just buying some center caps off another model won't exactly do the trick except maybe the later model ones.

Thanks.

I got a response from Warn about the clips in the box.

Darin,

Your application will not use those retaining rings. In certain older applications those would be installed in a groove on the very end of the axle shaft.

Regards,

I just finished my install. I was killing my self trying to get the old ones out. I finally got enough light on the hubs, and could see the problem. Much like the receiver, the lip on the hub was crapped up with rust. I tried scraping with everything I had, but still no way to get them out. I finally tossed some dremel action on them with a small round carbide bur. Just a slight bevel on the outer lip was all I needed to do to get rid of the rust lip. They slipped out nice and easy after that. All the lubing I did prior probably helped. It didn't interfere with the retainer ring recess at all. Just something people in the real rusty areas might need to contemplate while performing this mod.
