Many guys are rolling back their flashes to early 03 strategies for fuel economy and power. The only reason I can see getting a newer flash is to have the inductive heating for injectors. Even then, I would seriously consider not doing it if the truck runs fine when cold outside
I wouldn't go to the VXCF9. The tuners say 4 or 5 is much better. It would actually be nice to know what the FICM strategy is. That's much more important.
I had mine reflashed, and it's never been the same for power or mileage, but it runs great when it's cold, the latest flash is supposed to be easier on the ficm as it doesn't use the inductive heat as much. It also is supposed to turn the wrench light on if eot/ect delta's excede 15 degrees. I think there's less chance of lifting the heads too...mine won't go near 30psi now, although I'm sure they never did the vgt relearn, I'm going to do it myself in the next little while.
Tylus, how do you roll back to the older flash, I thought once you upgraded you couldn't go back?
