Programer

Well, I am now comitted to getting a programer or a multi position chip.

question is , which one?

I am now looking at PHP

Can any one give me a review of their products and support. Seems a bit complicated with having to down load their progams so you can down load thier tunes.

How about Hypermax?

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks

Have you done the supporting mods yet?

Intake, exhaust, gauges?

Give the people a call that do the chips and talk to them.

If you do a search on here about custom chips, you will find a weeks worth of reading. This question is like asking what is the best color on these trucks. I will say DP-TUNER because that is what I have.

Tuner

Thanks Rick

That is what I want to hear. Do you like your tuner. That is what counts. I am not looking for the max hp or any other technical standard. Just want to know if you are happy with the product and the support.

I have done some of the basic stuff to be ready for a programer or a tuner. Got the exhaust, intake, T-500, replaced injectors, IDM, buildt trans tc and fuel pump.

No I do not have gauges. Maybe that is why I should use a programer that reads EGt and boost.

Thanks for your response.

For a tuner you really only need EGT as a minimum. I'd personally stay away from the all-in-one units. My buddies wife knocked his off and it dangled in the door jam, then she closed the door and it was completely destroyed. No gauges, no tuner.

If you are trying to spend as little as possible consider the Auber Instruments EGT gauge as an option. Easier to mount w/o a gauge pod. I've not used one but have used a few of their controllers at work and they work well.

Probe sold separately: Automobile Multimeter for EGT, Boost, Green [SYL-1813G] - $57.50 : auberins.com, Temperature control solutions for home and industry

I would get gauges first for sure. With that being said I have PHP tunes and love them. You can get there FU chip which is what I have and that is a six position chip and you get a chip burner so you can download and change tunes whenever you want for free. You can also just order there six position chip with whatever tunes you want and then no need to download anything. My advice would be to give them a call and talk with them and they can help you figure out what is best for you.

I agree get a chip that you can switch on the fly for your 7.3. I have DP tuner and love it. Some here as said have PHP and others. Who wants to stop and wait to change a tune if you don't have to. Gauges should always be a must and don't get a tuner just to save a few dollars. EGT, Boost & Trans if auto is what most get.
