Mirrors

Little help guys, I purchased both side mirrors from Dennis Carpenters. On receiving them, noticed there were no instructions. I have a '55 and these are from there site, even the shop wasn't that sure. Part # BAAA-17696-S, I know this might be silly, but can't figure it out. Thanks in advance, L8R ZFLASH

I'm not positive if it's different on a '55 than a '56, but on mine there is a slot in the door under the vent window. It might be filled with body filler, my passenger side was. The arm of the mirror, the length with the threaded holes goes in that. Granite this isn't the best picture, but it shows where it's at on a '56

When you open the door up, on the inside you should see two threaded holes that line up with the holes on the arm. Slide the mirror in and bolt it on. Then adjust the arm of the mirror and the mirror head.

Just in case you have one without the base of it, here is what the whole assembly looks like (sometimes they're sold without the base as some people don't need them, I did on mine):

Thanks, this is very similar to what I have. That's what I thought about the mounting, the PO shaved and filled the doors in. I'll take the inside door panel off and take a look, thanks again, L8R ZFLASH

You can use a magnet to find the spot if he filled it with filler. If he welded it, then its going to suck.
