I had to swap the cats in the mustang for inspection. However the PO had put the wrong nut on the passenger side flange and I snapped it off trying to remove. I've tried heat and even tried to weld a nut on it but I've only succeeded in breaking more of it off. The k member is in the way to get a drill into straight. I am at wits end.
Will the bolt turn at all? I had a seized bolt on a transfer case mount and used Vise Grips to remove it. That was not a fun job. It took me longer to get that bolt out (back and forth...liquid wrench in between turns) than it did to do the entire suspension setup (on a Jeep Cherokee). I did manage to screw up the threads in the process though.
Lately my wrench of choice has been a reciprocating saw!
Are you trying to remove just the nut or another item?
The nut was frozen on...I used a Irwin female ez out because they stripped it going on. They must have lost the original nut and put a wrong size nylon lock nut in its place.
I'll have to watch it when i get home...u tube restricted here. I've drilled out bolts many times but where this collector is is a right PITA. I'm thinking now that since I have to pull the exhaust manifold i migfht as well put headers on it.
