auto ingenuity questions

I'm looking into buying an ae how does it all work? What do I need to buy?

Call Clay at Riffraff diesel he will get you straightened out. You test all sorts of things and pull codes. it is definetly worth it because the parts stores cannot pull our codes.

I have a CanOBD2 and have never used it, but I understand from this forum that it will not work for my 2000 7.3

CAN bus came out in 2005. AE works on all Ford vehicles with and OBD II port. I have used mine on a 95 F-250 as well as newer (2010] vehicles. It always works, just buy the enhanced package Clay linked above. You will find it very useful and can save you a ton of cash when troubleshooting issues.

OBDII is the port, CAN is the form of communications for newer vehicles. OBDII/CAN will work on both.
