4R100 big problems !!!

Hi, I have problems with my transmission in my ford f-250 7,3 diesel PS XLT 4WD...
Last week when I went on a trip while I was driving I heard some strange noise coming out of my trans and a lot of smoke I stop the car and opened the hood and I saw that the atf fluid outflowed threw bayonet (dipstick) I wait a few hours and then refill the fluid and came back around 70 miles. Ewarything was ok but next day I wanted to drive somewhere and I heard metallic noise and to start driving I had to have high rpm. And I drain the oil and refill it and there is still that noise...
Do I have to buy new transmission ?
Or this is only this clutch plate or this ring from overdrive ?
P.S. sorry form my English but I come from polland

Certainly sounds like you are in need of a rebuild or new trans.

I think it might be those clutch plate because i have read that this can break down... the oter parts of this trans are impossible to damage i think
Ok maybe someone know where and what costs i can buy that trans ?

Cześć Rosol
We do have Kowalski who is expert on transmissions on this forum. Hopefully he will come to add his comment.
I would suspect the ATF blowing out via top is the result of overheating, so checking the transmission cooling lines would be the first thing.
You can disconnect the tubes at the radiator and blow the air via the ATF cooler at low pressure.
Zyczę powodzenia.

Sorry to hear about the transmission troubles, but I also suspect that overheating may be a cause for the transmission fluid being blown out. Did you ever see your O/D OFF light on your shifter start blinking? IIRC it will start blinking to indicate a tranny fault or if the fluid gets over 275 degrees.

Almost every time I've seen fluid come out of the dipstick it was because the transmission was overfilled. If the level is not too much too high the rotating parts will hit the fluid and whip it into a foam. This will overheat the trans and greatly expand the volume, which forces fluid out of the dipstick.

Just a small amount of water in the trans can do this, too. I've seen about 2-3 ounces force enough fluid out of the dipstick to catch a car on fire and burn it to the ground! This was in a "controlled" test at a test track.

Thanks for everything...
When I drain the fluid I saw metal filings in the pan...
So probably I will have to buy new trans or rebuild it what do you think ?
And maybe someone have manual to this 4r100 trans in pdf and want to share it with me ?

On the 4R100 on my F250 I did have coolant contamination and even flushing with 20 quarts did not clean it all. Than I overheated the transmission on the beach and the fluid was coming on driver side of the transmission not via the dipstick. I cool down the transmission right away, so did not have any future problems, but from the look I took at at it on the beach there is some kind of valve there. I assumed it is factory safety valve, am I wrong?

You are wrong. There is no safety valve on the transmission. There is a vent on top of the transmission, towards the front of the trans.

I just flushed my 4r100 and I think I might have 1quart to many in it. When the tranny was warm, I was not getting a good measurement on the H part of the dipstick, but C was good. I kept adding fluid until H was covered. The following morning when the engine was cold, I checked it again and H and C were covered in fluid. I used a total of 20 quarts. Should I be worried?

The cold reading is meaningless. When the trans is cold you can't tell if that means you have too much fluid, or not enough fluid, or the right level. Warm it up again and check it.
