Same Starter for a V8 & I6?

I am looking to pick up an extra starter for my 1942 Ford 1-1/2 ton. I see several on ebay for the V8 engine that fit from the '30's to the 50's. Does anyone know if the straters were the same for the straight 6 as the V8?

Be careful removing/installing them. The same two bolts that hold the starter to the block also holds the starter together.
