New memeber and new to me 96 F250 powerstroke

Hi, new memeber and to me, a 96 F250 XLT Lariet LW PowerStroke. I just got the truck from my mom, 233K and runs good. I just put a new belt on, changed oil and all filters. I am having a few issues that maybe you knowledgable people can steer me in the right direction.
First thing i noticed is that upon applying throttle, the truck does not move instantly, almost acts like the tranny is slipping, it does this in all gears it seems. but it runs great so I am confused.
Secondly, the intermitant wipers do not work but the Low/High speeds do.
Thirdly, when using the cruise control, moving the blinker arm kicks the CC off, mostly when use the right signal, only sometimes going left.
Fourth and Finally, i had an 88 F250 before, Banks turbo package, unlike most trucks with turbos, i do not hear this one at all, how do i know if it is working since it does not have gauges?

I really do appreciate your time and assistance with these questions and issues.

The only useful advice I can offer is that the aftermarket turbo package on your old truck was geared for performance and probably had a larger exhaust which is why you could hear the turbo. Since the powerstroke comes turbo'd from the factory they put on a quiet exhaust for driver comfort which is why you don't hear it. On most stock diesels you won't hear the turbo much. You might hear it more on the newer trucks but I don't recall ever hearing a stock turbo diesel from the 90's that I could hear the turbo on.

as for your turn indicator kicking off your Cruise Control it could be something simple like crossed wires or some how your break circuit is being tripped causing the cruise to kick off, I know my truck behaves similar when I turn on any of the exterior lights at night. just something you might want to consider anyways welcome and show us the pics

The turbo on the OBS PSD's makes about 16 PSI of boost. If your turbo wasn't "Working" you would know it because even Toyota Prius' would be passing you!

When you shut the engine off you shuld be able to hear the turbo wheels spinning to a stop. If you really want to hear your turbo pull the cat and straight pipe the thing. My '96 F250 was about a year old when I pulled the muffler off, made NO difference in how it sounded. Fast forward about 6-7 yrs and I replaced the Cat. THAT really made the turbo whistle noticable.

I don't use my cruise control, and have the ZF 5-spd, so can't answer hose questions, but I can say my intermittant wipers are slow, v-e-r-y slow when I first turn them on then they get faster after a couple minutes.

Come to think of it, the old truck had straight pipes, the whole pipe from header back fell off on the third day of owning it. I was standing next to a new F350 crew cab dually the other day when he started it; you could hear the turbo winding up at idle. Mine still has factory exhaust so that could be it.

I found an older link for the intermttant wiper issue I am going to check tonight. as far as CC goes, I am going to check the Electric Brake module that was added to see if that might be causing my CC drop off issue. other that that, this truck is as it came from the factory mechanical wise. It even has all the original manuals.

how do I find the tranny type so i know what i have?

Only two transmissions offered in `96 for the PSD, the ZF5 manual and the E4OD auto.

thats a lot of miles for a stock e40d converter.
you may want to look into replacing it with a lower stall triple lock up unit.
that will likely cure your sluggishness.

if you have the manual trans (i doubt it based on your description) disregard.
