If it isn't fully seated and you pulled the trans all the way to the engine you have damaged the end of the torque converter and probably yhe pump, too. Starting the engine will just do additional damage. You might have to replace the torque converter and pump, sometimes they can be repaired if the engine hasn't been run like this.
I figured something like that. No I havent started the engine. I just got it all back together and havent yet filled the trans with fluid.
What should I do now?
Can you turn the engine over using a wrench on the crank pulley? If it turns freely you have it assembled right. If it is bound up the next step is to take the trans out and see what's damaged.

Yes I was able to hand cranked the engine to tighten the converter bolts. So I hope thats a good sign?
I will be back at it saturday. I need to clear my head and think this out.
First thing I am going to check is the lever that controls the park brake. Maybe it's not engaging so the trans is staying in park. I hope thats all?
Next I'm going to pull the transfercase and see if that truns free.
Last thing is to remove the trans!
I don't understand how we moved from the torque converter to park or to the transfer case.
What problem are you trying to fix here?
I'm sorry! I was cleaning up and wanted to clean up under the truck. So since I havent started the motor or filled the trans with fluid I tried to roll it backwards. It would only roll about a foot! Why? I hope thats not a bad sign.
Even if the torque converter isn't seated and has the engine jammed solid the truck will still roll just fine. Your problem is not the torque converter. You've done something wrong with the linkage or have something wrong in the transfer case.
I made a video explaning my trans stituation. I hope this gives you a better idea of what could be the problem.
I plan on checking the trasfercase next. I really appreciate the help!
I just watched the video. It's the one way clutch in backwards. The torque converter and pump have nothing to do with this problem. Either does the transfer case. It's the one way clutch installed backwards.
If you can spin the engine with that small ratchet either you are amazingly strong or you have the torque converter and pump installed correctly.
Thanks again Mark. I just picked up the trans jack from the rental yard. I will be spending the rest of the day pulling out the trans again! I got to hurry, its gonna rain!
