Automatic choke question

I have a 1978 F-350 with a 400 and a two barrel carb. My automatic choke is not working. There is a place for a wire on the thermostatic but no wire. Where would the other end of the wire connect? The alternator? I can't figure out where it would connect?

Thanks

The wire goes from the terminal on the automatic choke to the "S" terminal on the alternator, that's the stator.
If you look towards the center of the firewall there should be a plug with two wires going to it. One is white w/ black trace, the other blue. The white/black trace is the wire for your choke, the other goes to the idle stop solenoid on the carb. I've seen quite a few of these unplugged or the pigtail that goes to the choke/solenoid is missing.
Here's a picture from another recent post showing the plug.

The electric terminal is only for the assist - it is not the sole mechanism behind what opens the choke. In fact, the hot-air stove has to heat the choke up to a certain temperature before the electric assist even kicks in. If your choke is not opening at all, the missing electric terminal will not account for it.
