I posted this yesterday in the FE/FT section,so this is a repeat. 70 F250 390/C6. I cleaned the oil pan and am replacing the oil pump/pickup. I decided to remove the dizzy to prime the new pump. Dizzy wouldn't budge! Soaked around the base w/ WD40 and let it sit over night. Still wouldn't move. Got the pry bars out and got the body free and up out of the manifold about 3/8 of inch. Busted the vacumn advance off, but it still won't come out. Looked up into the block,no rust on the dizzy gear. Any suggestions for removal? Thanks
Put a socket on the crank and rock it back and forth while pulling on the dizzy. You should be able to walk the dizzy's gear teeth off its mating surface.
However, that brings up a question: Why is it jammed in the first place? Only time will tell.
Thanks HIO,truck has been parked for 19 mos. Had the sludge,oil/antifreeze, in the pan. I think its the front of the intake manifold leaking because when the pan came off you could tell that the source was on the front. I need to move the truck,so trying to get it going without pulling the intake yet!. "Yet" being the key word !. Thanks.
The distributor in the 460 in my '68 is stuck also. I was told to put lacquer thinner at the base of the distributor and keep working it loose. This was a year ago and I still haven't done it. It runs fine.
Mine was stuck too (351c), I had to use a hammer just to be able to rotate it back & forth in my attempts at loosening it. I eventually was able to get it out by a combination of prying upwards on it with a crowbar, while tapping it with a hammer to rotate it. Once I got it out, I found that greasy crud had built up which blocked it from ever getting lubrication, and then moisture etc over 40 years time had caused rust from the manifold and corrosion from the distributor to form and "grow" itself together. The good news is that I got it out without breaking anything (even though i used a crowbar and hammer on a 40 year aluminum distributor) and once properly lubricated the new dist dropped right into place, fires fire, and is easily rotated when I need to adjust it. So, perseverance (it took me 2 afternoons).

2x on Hio's answer, rotate and it will come right out. and For Alex, Better start early to soak it. These dist cases aren't indestructible! If they break off just above the hold down clamp shoulder you're scr**ed.
