Hi- I am going to be removing my interior door panels on my 74 F350 regular cab. I know that they are connected by some plastic plugs. Before I start removing them, I'd like to know the best way to do so without causing any damage to anything. Every Ford truck I have ever owned, I have caused some sort of damage when removing them. I have a tendency to sometimes be a bull in a china shop and I am determined, this time, to not do any damage. Is there a special tool, technique, or ???? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You'll need a door panel popper; it looks like a flat head screwdriver with a forked end. Carefully wedge it under the mounting points of the door panel and gently pop it free. The following will lead to a broken door panel:
1) Using something besides a door panel popper.
2) Inserting the tool and prying under places that are not near the mounting points.
3) Not being careful.
4) Going too fast.
Don't forget to remove the window crank, door handle and finger cup screws in the arm rest.
