An interesting craigslist find.

Hey guys I just found this on craigslist Inland Empire (California) I am not in the market since I just replaced my fan clutch, but it looked interesting none the less. I thought I would share it with the forum. I don't know if they will ship or anything else about it. I wonder if they could work an intercooler in with it??? any thoughts?

you don't need to spend that kind of $ for a reliable dual fan setup.
the issue with that setup is,that its all blocked off.so when the fans are not working, air flow isn't that good.they have a couple slotted openings it looks like, but it's not enough.
the fans will be working very often, compensating from the reduced air flow and i don't think they're large enough.
for much less, you can get the windstar fans, and a variable rate controller instead of just relays.

i agree. that setup is about $400 too much, and it has no air flow unless the fans are running..

Agreed you would have restricted airflow, but you would get airflow through both fans and both cut outs while the fans weren't running and increased effectiveness while the fans were running. I would think that they could use expanded metal to make the shroud and you could always put a variable rate controller on those fans. I would only be interested in it if they could integrate an intercooler into it. Without the fan and fan clutch installed i would think there would be enough room, and It sure would make an intercooler install a lot easier without having to hack up your cross member and grill. I am in CA, I might call them and ask. $850.00 for that set up is a little high, but with an effective intercooler, i would pay it. I would need to know more about the fans also.

How is it a downgrade? right now I have a 20 year old radiator and no intercooler. Electric fans have been proven effective, and the fan clutch draws more horswpower when it kicks in. I want to install an intercooler and if they could integrate one into this it would be a snap to install.

if i forked over that much money for that set-up i would NOT want to have to "adjust" things to make it work better.

i agree, it would be much better to use the windstar fans.

Yes electric fans have been proven. On cars and small trucks. Look at any auto with a large engine that was built to tow and most of the time you will find a huge power hogging fan. They would have to be some really high performance fans to compete.

Yes why would they block most of it off. I have never seen a radiator with an electric fan that had the rest blocked off. After all if your just cruising around and taking it easy these trucks don't even need a fan.

Intercooler is interesting. Could they just make me a regular radiator, no fans, with an intercooler in front of it. I think a lot of guys on here would like that idea.

So I called this guy, his name is Jeff. that radiator was made for a 460 build and they realized it was way more cooling than a gasser needed so they went a different route. It is an aftermarket core with the fans and trans cooler added by them. I asked him about a radiator and intercooler combo and he is going see if he can find an intercooler core that he can make work. I did tell him that a lot of guys are running the 6.0 PSD intercooler as a guideline. He is going to get back to me if he finds anything out. I have a feeling that the price is giong to be rediculous, but it cant hurt to ask.
