What were the highest air temps you saw? No heat problems even when you were towing without the fan?
Bill, another good read, thought the fan would affect mpgs more than they were saying, maybe not. Dont agree with the one post that the e fan will not work, too many people using them successfully.

I agree. The mpg part kinda suprised me too, that's why I put this one up there. I still think it will work fine, like you said, too many doing it.

I do like 78pace's idea of having one kick on first and then bring the second one in if the temps keep rising.

In the fall of 05 while in Arizona I removed my fan and shroud with the intentions of installing a set of Windstar electric fans. There was a noticable difference in throttle response and the truck was much quieter without all the fan noise. With the high temps in the 70's I was pretty sure I could go the winter before I put the electrics on. It was mid May and the temps were in the 100's on a daily basis before I put the fans on.Even at that temp the engine never got anywhere close to being to hot even with a 203* thermostat. They biggest problem with no fans is because there is no airflow over the a/c condensor while at a traffic light the a/c dont blow cold air. The winstar setup uses two fans and I wired the smaller one to come on with the a/c and the other was through an adjustable thermostat that was set at 205*. In the fall of 07 I removed the fans to replace the water pump and again left them of for the winter. March of 08 I packed all my crap in a 20 ft trailer and moved to NY state. I managed to drag a bunch of junk across the country with no fans without a problem. I've been in NY now for 4 years and it never gets close to 100 so I still dont have a fan installed.

Nope. Both the OEM and Windstar fans are still in the garage. Every now and then I run across them and think I should put them back on but it hasn't been a priority so I never get to it.
