How long can you sit at an idle before a noticeable temp rise?

Been reading post about the e fan debate. Cant get over how many people say the e fan wont work, even though they wont try it, and they ignore the people that have done it with success. How can you argue with facts, the stock fan moves air, the efans move air, end of story. I tend to believe the folks with the guts to do a real world test. As long as mine does not overheat, the fan stays off. I am still going to get some e fans and put them on the shelf just in case.

I will testify to that statement. I have left mine running in cold weather to keep the cab warm, only to come back and find cool air coming out of the vents.

Have you had any time to put together some info on the e fan's????
3rd tank 16.5 mgp, gonna put the fan back on for the next tank to see what affect it will have. May start building a cap similar to the one linked in RRranch's thread. For 4mpg's I will sacrifice some looks. May even take the plunge and run WVO if I can get it free.

If you had an original 4 row 94.5 radiator I'd say you can get away with electric fans when towing heavy but not on any other model. I have the absolute biggest replacement radiator on mine but it's a 3 row. It's fine on our weekly trip from lubbock to corpus without a fan as long as I'm not pulling anything. Almost screwed me once getting caught in San Antonio traffic though. The engine was getting up to 225 sitting in stop and go stuff. I tried electrics on the 97 we have once and took them off in a week and returned them. It couldn't pull my horse trailer worth a darn with them. That was the only time I ever saw the engine temp light come on. Don't lose the shroud either. It doesn't cool worth a darn without that either.
