I have the muffler delete from Clay, and it's time to install. I have all the tools I need, but I want to do this quick-and-dirty without leaks. U-clamps?
I would use band clamps, most places that carry heavy truck parts will have them. Google it, you may find them cheaper.
I know Summit Racing also carrys them.
One of my regrets when installing my exhaust system is not using band clamps. Use them, they work great and if for any reason you need to disassemble the system(or muffler delete) it is easy to do.
Here is a link to some band clamps if you can't find them locally. Walker Clamps
After you hear what it sounds like, my guess is that you are going to want to put it back on. If so, then the band clamps are easier to R&R compared to clamps. Some people prefer the muffler delete sound but just as many do not. Just an FYI...
THE BROTHERHOOD STEPS UP! I was in the weeds on this one. I now have band clamps in the garage, next to my muffler delete. Can you guess what's on my agenda for Saturday?
Is there a better flowing stock size "turbo muffler" or the like that will work on these trucks? is the stock muffler THAT restrictive? has anyone actually gained any mpg/power by removal?
We think my truck is plenty loud all stock so we don't want it louder.
