Its even more scary when you realize that the 6.4's use the same cowl and antenna boot. Which I think the first ones rolled into dealerships in late 06? Early 07? I'm not sure if the 6.0's or 7.3's had it.
You're right it's all about the dealership. Usually starts with the owner or manager. Anybody's that was not installed correctly should let their dealer know so they can correct the process and help the next guy out.
I might have to go "Shop" for a new SD. Toy with the salesman, find a SD with the antenna boot not installed correctly and walkout after I shockingly find out that it's not.
You sure think there'd be a checklist...Mine was not installed, the antenna itself was loose. So were a good deal of my lugnuts!
They do have a checklist. They just pre fill them out.just put in different vin. I had one guy in our shop. I nicknamed him hubcap. Because at that time all he would do is knock on hubcap or wheel centers. He was done.
Yes Doc that is correct. I took mine and squeezed one corner of the boot and worked it in the hole. Then rotated the boot clockwise. It was a tight fit but it did go in.
I have noticed a ton of the little rubber boot jut slides over antenna mast and just sit on top of the black plastic peice. That is not correct I've noticed on some 2012 the boot gets pushed under that plastic Peice. So since mine came in from order. I put it on and pushed it under that Peice and walla alot of windnoise is gone. And it was bad windy 2 day.
I just noticed this on my 2016, so you can just "stuff" it into the hole or does the entire plastic piece need to come off?
