I ran a Gibson catback on my 01 F150 5.4 before I got rid of it, and I loved it. It was quiet in the cab, but still got a nice rumble out the back. The quality of the system was top notch. For the most part, Flowmaster and the others sound about the same. The Gibson is pretty much by itself when it comes to the interior resonance...very little. As for Borla, I dont like the sound they give off. Seems a bit tinny, for a lack of a better term. Hope this helps.
I have a 2002 F150 4x4 with the 5.4 and I just put in a flowmaster 40. I had the exhuast exit in front of the right tire. It sounds great and its really not loud in the cab at all. It really sounds good when you get on it from a stop light or when your passing on the highway. It cost me $200 installed
