My 86 F250 with a 351 and aftermarket Holley performance carb runs fine while I'm driving but when I put it in Park it is idling way up instead of down. Why is this?

Big Red, others will likely have more to offer but after reading alot on this forum you will find lots of discussion around carb tuning/choke adjustment. Start with this post https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...rb-tuning.html and search for others regarding carb tuning..you will learn alot on this forum.
It could be so many things it boggles the mind just thinking about it. But, I'll guess that your vacuum source to the vacuum advance unit on the distributor is hooked to manifold vacuum instead of ported vacuum.
I say that because it sounds like you are saying that it idles reasonably when in gear (I assume it is an auto since you said "Park"), but that it idles rapidly when in Park. If I'm right you will probably find that pulling the vacuum hose off of the distributor and sealing the hose with your finger will drop the idle down significantly.
