i have a 390 with a c6 in my truck now but in my parts truck i have a 302 with a c4. my question is that will the 302/c4 bellhousing bolt up to the c6 or will the bellhousing from the 390 c6 bolt right up to my 302? or do i just have to buy a whole new bellhousing?
also ive been reading and from what it seems like a 390 cant be bored over .030... is this true? i belive this motor has been bored over that much since the truck has its original motor and has over 200k miles. the guy i bought it from says it would have to be sleeved so by taking his word for it im guessing it has.
The C6 uses an integral bellhousing, so nothing interchangeable there. Small block and FE are very different patterns as well.
As far as overbore, that depends on the block. There were a couple different types of blocks, and the heavier ones can be bored further but need to be sonic checked to see how far they can actually be taken.
i c... the truck is tagged and title and driveing it now. im going to build a 331 stroker out of the 302 and drop it into the the truck when the 390 goes bad.
what tranny should i go with? keep the c4 or convert it to a manual with parts from the parts truck or get a different auto from a modern vehicle?
and i know yall are going to ask so here is what im wanting to go with the truck. im wanting it to be a driver but im planning on building the motor to 400 to 500 hp with a procharger.
