axhaust back pressure vavle problem!

I have a 96 f250 powerstroke and the back pressure vavle closes almost all the way closed while going down the road, I don't want to get ride of it. What senser makes it closed and can I just clean the senser or do I have to replace it?
Thanks

It runs off engine oil temperature I would verify the the EOT sensor is working correctly. i dont know if cleaning it will do anything. you could unplug the harness from the pedestal temporarily to make the thing driveable. you will need to know the oil temperature and use autoenginuity to see what the sensors telling the PCM and compare the actual temperature.

Yea just unplug it for now. I had my turbo off and put new orings in the pedastal and a new ebpv piston, got it back together and it didnt leak anymore but the ebpv was on even when unhooked. that is why it was wired open come to find out. I have a new selenoid for it but dont have the 240 dollars yet. Hopefully that will fix it.

The PCM uses information from the EBP (exhaust back pressure) sensor, IAT ( intake air temperature) sensor and the EOT (engine oil temperature) sensor to control the opening and closing of the back pressure valve. Chances are that all of your sensors are good and it's just the tube between the EBP sensor and the manifold that's clogged with soot. The sensor is mounted on a bracket that's just behind the right side of the hpop reservoir, it's the one behind the reservoir not the one on top, that's the oil pressure sensor. Take it apart and clean the tube and you should be good.

Well I already took off my turbo and replaced all the seals and compresser wheel on the turbo, I can see that when I bring it up to around 1500 rpms it will close it by itself, its not sticking at all

The tube goes between the front of the right exhaust manifold and the sensor. When it gets plugged with soot the sensor can't read the exhaust pressure. With no pressure reading the sensor thinks you're at idle and sends that info to the EBPV via the PCM to close the valve. If you clean the tube the sensor knows you're at 1500 rpm's and keeps the valve open.

Do you have a picture of the tube you are talking about, because I have no clue where it is at
Thanks

Do you know where the HPOP reservoir is? On the top right of the reservoir is the oil pressure switch. Directly behind that, on a bracket attached to the reservoir is the EBP sensor. The tube runs from the bottom of the sensor to the front of the right exhaust manifold.
