The relay for my horn (1976 F150) is a rotten mess. The bottom of the relay and the 3 prongs on it are rusty and corroded. The bottom rubber plug has three female slots that are so full of rusty decay it's beyond repair.
I was able to buy a new relay (just the top half) but no one carries the bottom half. I've tried Autozone, NAPA, and the local Motorcraft retailer.
I stole a picture of the relay from a different post and put an arrow to the part I'm needing so there's no confusion.
Aside from going to a salvage yard (none of the local yards have any 73-79 trucks or early 80s vans) does anyone have a resource for this plug?
It looks like salvage yards are your only option for the plug. I just went through the entire electrical section of the parts catalog to see if Ford offered a service replacement and didn't see anything listed. Found the relay but no plug.
Don't know for sure but I believe the passenger cars from the same era used the same relay.
Incase you strike out, as a fall back, you can always just use the standard female spade terminals that you can get at Home Depot, Lowe's, parts stores, etc. It doesn't look as neat or "factory" but at least it'll work.
Thanks for taking the time to go through the whole catalog! If cars from the same period had the same relay I might have better luck with the salvage yeards around here. It's worth a try anyways.
It dawned on me that I could just make the plug cover or like you said just plug the wires directly on with no cover. I'll do that as a temporary fix until I find a real one.
