Gauge Package Help

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a good source for a gauge package. I have been looking all over for about a week and it is very overwhelming. I checked out the sponsors and wasn't thoroughly impressed with what they had to offer. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to FTE.

This is a good package. Give clay a call and he will make you happy.

Clay is the way to go, and if you want different gauges call him and see what he can do.

Thank you for the info. Clay's package includes everything needed for the install, but it is quite a bit more expensive than similar packages. Is it worth the extra money?

You are getting ISSPRO EV2 gauges with Clay's package. That is the difference in price. The ISSPRO gauges are better IMO as they are easier to read and have great lighting. Going to a better gauge will make you happier in the end. I went with cheaper gauges to start, now I am replacing them with ISSPRO EV2's! Spend the money once and be happy.

I looked around a little more and Clay's package is priced pretty competatively for what you are getting. I was comparing Auto Meter packages to the ISSPRO packages and not comparing apples to apples. I am with you on purchasing quality and only having to purchase something one time. Thank you for the help, this is making my decision a lot easier.

You probably want to know why you would spend more money. I can't speak for anybody other than me, but here are my reasons for buying my ISSPRO EV2 setup:
  • The dials were designed to look compatable with my gauges on the dash - you have a choice to match yours.
  • They have everything you need in each gauge kit. No separate orders for sensors or wires/cables.
  • Sensors are electrically self-contained, they do not depend on a good ground connection with the component you are installing the sensor in.
  • All sensor connections are electrical with wires/cables to the gauge. No boost air, or pressurized fluid is tubed in the cab to the gauge.
  • The connections are crazy easy. You have a plug to the sensor and gauge.
  • These gauges are electronic, not electrical. They have a stepper motor for the needle, not a bi-metal coil that swings the needle with heat or a bellow that moves with pressure. The stepper motor gives better accuracy and just looks smoother with pressure and quicker with other criteriea (like temperature).
  • Many gauges have trip points programmed in. My pyrometer will light a red LED in the face if the EGT exceeds 1250 F
  • The dial as a nice, big 270-degree arc. This allows me to see a little more detail on the reading.
I went underdash instead of A-pillar. This is what I had on the shelf before I bought ISSPRO EV2

I went cheap and so far so good. Love my Glowshifts and seem to be accurate. $225 shipped for the 3 pillar package. All I needed to buy was a tap for $7. Hopefully I won't regret it. They look awesome and are easy to read, IMO.

Rick you're right on in this advice! There is no downside to dealing with Clay! He's adamant about selling the best stuff too.

I love the looks of the Glowshift gauges. But I went with the kit from Clay because I knew it was backed with quality, something that I wasn't guaranteed with the glowshift.

Many people have had good luck with the GS gauges, and some have been less lucky. The big problem comes when you try to work with GS to get new gauges. This isn't a problem with Clay or ISSPRO.

Hopefully I won't have to return any of my gauges (1 year warranty) but they answered the phone with no waiting to help me with a couple of installation problems/questions. Very happy so far with the company/gauges.
I would have gone with isspros if money wasn't a factor. You get what you pay for usually, but Sometimes you get a good deal or get a product that works for you. I drive my truck about 4-5k a year and am a bit tight right now and wanted a tuner and of course had to get gauges. I will be the first to post if any issues. So far so good.

Your gauges look really good down there Tugly. How do you like where your DP switcher is? I played around a bit and found it hard to see behind the steering wheel where yours is. It really looks clean there though. I put mine Right of the 4X4 switch. BTW, love the stereo, nice

I had my DP in the same place. Perfect placement. Easy access, and you dont really NEED to see it. Only when switching and after a while you memorize what tune is where and what you need to do to switch without looking.

Here it is. It's not "mounted" yet, but very secure and doesn't move around. It's wedged in between the 2 pieces of dash, I like it here. Probably permanent.
