What happened to the round of checks I outlined yesterday?
It was 6 volts at the S terminal( even with the key turned to Start). That led me to changing the ignition switch. No change after the switch, it was only after playing with the gear selector and turning the key to start that it turn over. I appreciated your help very much.
The neutral Safety switch isn't just an r&r deal. It also needs to be adjusted. It also controls your reverse lights. It has a pin that slides that has to be on the proper side of the pointy arm coming from the column. The arm is held into the shift tube by two hooks that I've seen where just one pops out and it comes out of adjustment. If its cranking as you hold the key and shift it the switch is most likely ok and you'll need to find out why its out of whack. Wear in the column parts and shift collar can cause this. This would certainly cause the bad ign switch symptoms as even though your turning it to start its not getting past the nuetral safety switch.
