So this weekend I replaced all 8 injectors, glowplugs, and return lines. I ofc had a relatively rough time getting I started after all that work, but...I have no leaks as far as I can see in any of the return lines I installed and I'm still struggling to get it to start after leaving it sit for more than a few hours... however if I go out and tap the schrader valve while some one is cranking she will fire up... another side affect to doing this work is the water in fuel light is staying on all the time now...not sure why because the entire truck was in a closed garage while we did the work. Not sure if we may have damaged the sensor or something when we were working or what but any suggestions as to why I am having such a hard time starting even though I'm seeing no leaks? I'm going to check really hard for leaks tomorrow in good day light for leaks again anyways I'm sorrry if the formating on this post is ****ty I'm using my phone thanksguys
Did you lube up the o-rings when installing the return line caps?
Air is smaller than diesel, and may leak in even if you don't see the diesel leak out.
How long have you had it running after doing all this work? Just a few moments, or fully warmed up?
Make sure the batteries are still fully charged too. If you've been starting it, but not letting it run, they might be getting low and not turning it over fast enough.
Check the wiring for the water in fuel light, it goes to a sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter. Maybe you knocked it loose and its shorting out somewhere.
Is your fuel filter completely full? - I would look at it directly, not just tap the Schrader valve. Air in the filter indicates an air leak somewhere, plus it will make starting very hard.
I figured out what the problem is - the injector nut is cracked, and will not crank down onto the injector... Its the injector nut that is on the front left of the engine closest to the water/fuel separator. Advanced doesn't have the part. As im sure you guys knew . And im pretty sure i would have to have that whole metal line right? Anyways do you guys know where i could get one of these?
junk yard maybe. from the sounds of it of what your having a problem with is that you just replaced the injectors right. so there all new and chances are your injector pump isnt used to psi shot that the injectors should be firing at. my sugesstion would be a new ip. but if you think its the line then i would just check a junk yard. i seen some online but i cant remeber where i will have to do some more surfing and i will find it again.
click the link above I'm sure you can find this stuff cheaper If I needed them I would start on ebay I've had good experience on there 6.9L / 7.3L Injection Lines
