Hey,
So i was working on getting my truck back on the road the other day when i noticed I had a fuel leak comming from the line that goes from the fuel filter housing to the IP. Does anyone know where the seals in the lines can be found or if there are any tricks to getting them sealed up? THe seals in mine are shot and a good amount of fuel leaks out. I did have it running so thats a plus but air intrusion is a problem after it is turned off. Thanks guys.
You want 2 of the 5/16" ones to go between the filter and IP.
You might want to get 2 of the 3/8" ones while you're at it, 1 goes between lift pump and filter (At the filter) the other goes on the metal return line where the injector returns T into the main return line to the tank.
If you need injector return o-rings might be a good time to get them as well, I like to keep a set on hand, never know when your gonna bump them darn injector returns and make em leak.
No, I'm not a sales person for dieselorings.com, just somebody thats been down these roads.
If you get tired of fooling with those things, you can get a new fitting from a pump shop that has a JIC5 adapter that screws into the back of the pump , then get a JIC5 to pipe adapter for the filter housing and have a hose made up, and no more leaky rubber seals.
I can confirm that the seal kits that are advertised for the later model super duties, on Amazon and at the parts stores, do contain seals that will work in a pinch. I used the 5/16 seal on the IP and one of the 1/4 seals on the filter head and both sealed fine.
Dorman - OE Solutions Fuel Line Seal Kit 904-497 from advance is what I used. Really overpriced but if you are in a jam it'll get you home.
on Amazon they are advertised as fuel line seal kit for 99-03 7.3L power stroke.
I ordered the Russ kit to permanently fix the issue.
Hope this helps someone in the future!
