Got a question guys...the horn on my '78 isn't really that loud...I'm not really looking for a "Big Rig" horn, but would like something a little louder than the stock horn. I'm assuming it is still the factory one, mounted up on the frame beside the radiator on the passenger side.
What about going with the factory dual horn setup? The horns were different, one was high pitch the other low pitch.
All you need is the other horn and the wire and clips that go across the radiator support.
The horn in the first picture is mounted in the stock location, the other mounts in the same location on the drivers side of the radiator support and the wire runs along the top of the support.
If you'll look on the horns, one will be "HI" the other "LO"

Does it actually make it somewhat louder? Also I noticed you have a "Regulator" of some type mounted under the "Stock" horn...is that part of the High/Low system? And does it hook up to the factory wiring?
Oh, and MikeOo..your truck looks amazingly clean! Almost makes me nausous...but then happy to see a great looking truck!

I would say it's louder than the stock single horn, plus it has a different sound to it.
The regulator under the horn is the voltage regulator. This is where it was mounted in '73 and I believe '74 also. In '75 it was moved to the splash pan.
Thanks for the kind words and compliments. Still lots of work to do before she's done though. Hopefully it'll be in the paint shop within a couple of months.
I have the dual horn setup on my 79 and to me i plan on upgrading to something louder.
I'm not real pleased with the noise they put out, Ive heard alot louder out of just one horn, so when funds allow, I'm going to look for something a bit louder.
I just replaced the horn on a '78. Autozone stocked 3 types of replacement horn: high pitch, low pitch and extra loud. I went with the low pitch which was fine (but not super loud). You could try the "extra loud" option... or add a second high pitch horn along with the one you have.

Could you post a video or email/text me a video of it? I've looked at those types at the parts house, just wasn't sure how they would sound...message me and I can give you my cell # if you want to text a video, if you don't want to post one...
Did anyone notice the car that appears to be suspended/propped up against the back wall?
What's up with that? I guess it would be easy to do work on the underside, change the oil, transmission fluid, undercoat it, work on the exhaust, etc....
