well this is NOT going to work for a flow bench. i guess i will need to redesign for a blow through style bench using rays big cummins powered compressor.
its like a wind tunnel. it measures air flow through engine parts (or other things) and is what all serious engine builders need to properly shape ports for optimum performance.
the goal is to keep the ports as small as possible while getting the most (or most appropriate amount) airflow through the port. the flow bench allows you to see all the changes in air flow when you reshape the port/exhaust/intake or whatever you want to test.

for accuracy, 20+ inches is ideal, anything above 10 is good enough for monitoring changes rather than getting exact numbers, the dust collection system would only pull .5 in/h20
shop vac's can pull some great vacuum but i would need 5 of them inline to get the CFM i need without a pressure drop.
