Help! Headers installation issue

Hey there folks,

I purchased a pair of pace setter headers for my 97 F250 Heavy Duty, for the 351W motor. Of course, installation is at a bit of a standstill due to the following scenario:

One of my headers has a port to connect to the EGR valve on the passenger side, and fits just fine. It is well within my expectations... the driver side header, however, has one issue the manifold did not - there is not a port for the valve behind the manifold to connect to. I have no clue what this valve does, and if I will be able to just plug it off or if I need to buy the right header...

Pictures attached. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure the EGR valve is on the passenger side, connecting to the front of the exhaust manifold (and my passenger side header.) So what could this connection be for?

On your truck there is a pipe behind the motor and a big mess of pipes and valves on top of the motor that connect to the air pump and the cats, this is the thermactor(air injection) system and it's only purpose in life is to feed extra fresh air to the cats to help burn off excess hydrocarbons on cold starts. The whole works of this can be safely eliminated without affecting the EFI system if you don't have emissions tests in your area, but if you do and they check for the presence of factory smog equipment it will have to stay.. which means you'll need to add a port for it on the headers or go back to the manifolds.

Thanks! I actually figured this out about fifteen minutes ago and felt a great relief... I'm planning on putting the 351 smog pump eliminator bracket on and calling it a day.

Thanks for your help!
