Tire Noise (Whomping)

I have a "whomping" noise and I have been told that the tires on my 98 Explorer XLT need to be rotoated. Can any one tell me the best rotation for this problem? Front to Back (same side) or Front to Back (Opposite side) or some other configuration? Thank you

I'd do front to back, back to front.

Tire Noise (Whomping)

From working at a dealership, a whomping noise usually means a broken belt. If you can not visually see this you need to deflate the tires (for your safety to about 15 psi), remove each wheel, and carefully look and feel each tire over. Look for bubbles in the sidewall.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to try the tire rotation first. If that does'nt work I'll look at the tires. The tires are new (less than 10,000 miles) so I hope that they don't have a broken belt.
