2002 Mountaineer:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> Driving into work today, my over drive light started to blink very fast. I have not had any trouble with high RPM's or shifting. <o></o> I live in MN and we had a very rainy/slushy/snowy drive in and never went faster than 30 miles per hour.<o></o> Could an ice or snow build up be the culprit? I sure hope so!<o></o> Thanks for any advice in advance.<o></o> Anna<o></o>

You need to take it to a transmission specialist and have it looked at. It might be nothing, but if your trans is slipping, the computer can detect it long before you can. How many miles since your last trans fluid change?
As others have said, have the codes read. The scanners at Autozone can't touch Ford Transmission codes, so you need to find someone with a higher level scanner, or take it into a transmission shop to have the code read. Come back with the code and a description of what happened before the O/D Off light started to flash, and then we can see what we can do to help you.
Thanks, It was doing nothing different when the light came on. I have the airbag and asb light on also. Does that make a difference? To be honest I am buy a new car. I am not auto handy and the nickle and dimeing gets old.
Thank you all
Anna
